Participation in the college program allows sponsoring firms to review student contact information and scores within this program. Businesses use the student information to recruit students who participate in the program. Student information is only shared with the college's sponsoring firm.
The Security Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam is the new, introductory-level Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) exam for prospective industry professionals, like YOU. Its purpose is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of the securities industry and then assess basic knowledge of its concepts. This exam is now a prerequisite to working within the financial services industry and passing it now will give you an clear advantage in hiring. Unlike traditional securities exams that require an individual to be employed and sponsored by a firm to take it, the SIE can be done as a student; it will also fulfill the prerequisite completion of securities exam basics, required for certain industry functions (e.g. Series 6, 7, 57, or 79). Participation in the college program will also open the door for WCSU to begin collaboration with potential sponsoring firms who will want to recruit from the university (more on that later!).
